Terms & Privacy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

Welcome to Hakä World. These Terms & Privacy provisions explain the conditions governing the use of our website, the purchase of products and services, participation in Hakä World activities, and the way we collect, use and protect personal information.

Hakä World brings together bodywork, movement practices, workshops and professional training, Silent Hikes and community experiences, essential oils, books, educational resources and practices inspired by Eastern philosophy, mindfulness and conscious living. By accessing this website, making a purchase, booking a service or registering for an activity, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms.

Hakä World is operated by [LEGAL NAME / BUSINESS NAME], Tax/VAT Number [NIF/VAT NUMBER], with registered or professional address at [ADDRESS], Portugal. For questions concerning these Terms, purchases or privacy matters, please contact us at [EMAIL ADDRESS].

1. Use of this Website

The Hakä World website is intended to provide information about our philosophy, activities, services, educational programmes and products, and to allow visitors to contact us, make bookings, register for activities and, where available, purchase products or digital resources.

Users agree to use the website lawfully and in a manner that does not interfere with its operation, compromise its security, infringe the rights of Hakä World or third parties, or attempt to access restricted areas, systems or data without authorisation.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the information presented on the website is accurate and current. Nevertheless, descriptions, schedules, availability, prices, photographs, programme details and other information may occasionally be updated or corrected.

2. Hakä World Services and Experiences

Hakä World may offer individual bodywork sessions, Hakä Shiatsu and related body practices, movement and stretching sessions, workshops, professional training, Yoga, Qi Gong, Silent Hikes, meditation, community gatherings and other educational, experiential or wellbeing activities.

The exact content, duration, location, price and specific conditions of each activity will be communicated on the corresponding page, booking system, registration form or confirmation message.

Some activities involve physical movement, stretching, manual contact, pressure, walking outdoors or participation in natural environments. Participants are responsible for assessing whether an activity is appropriate for them and for informing the practitioner or facilitator of relevant physical limitations, injuries, allergies, sensitivities or other circumstances that may affect safe participation.

Participants should follow the safety instructions provided during each activity and stop participating if they experience significant pain, dizziness, breathing difficulty or any other unexpected physical discomfort.

Hakä World takes reasonable measures to provide its activities safely and responsibly. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Portuguese or European law.

3. Wellbeing and Health Information

The information, practices, products and experiences presented by Hakä World are intended to support wellbeing, body awareness, relaxation, personal development and conscious living.

Unless expressly stated otherwise and provided by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional, Hakä World content and services are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure diseases or to replace medical diagnosis, medical treatment, psychological treatment, physiotherapy or other regulated healthcare services.

Information concerning Yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, meditation, energy practices, aromatherapy, essential oils or other traditional systems should be understood within their educational, cultural or wellbeing context.

Individual responses to bodywork, movement practices, essential oils and other wellbeing practices vary from person to person. No particular therapeutic or health outcome is guaranteed.

Anyone with a medical condition, pregnancy, recent surgery, significant injury or uncertainty about whether a practice or product is suitable for them should seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.

4. Bookings, Workshops and Events

Bookings and registrations are considered confirmed when the required booking process has been completed and, when applicable, payment has been received.

Specific cancellation, rescheduling and refund conditions may be shown during the booking process or on the page relating to a particular workshop, course, session or event. These specific conditions form part of the agreement between the participant and Hakä World.

Where mandatory consumer legislation grants the customer a statutory right of withdrawal or cancellation, those rights prevail over any commercial cancellation policy.

Certain activities connected with leisure services and scheduled for a specific date or period may fall within statutory exceptions to the general right of withdrawal, where applicable under consumer law.

If Hakä World has to cancel an activity, workshop or booked service, participants will normally be offered an alternative date, credit or refund of the amount paid for the cancelled activity. Hakä World will not be responsible for independent expenses incurred by participants, such as travel or accommodation, except where liability is imposed by applicable law.

Outdoor activities such as Silent Hikes may be modified, postponed or cancelled when weather, environmental conditions, access restrictions, safety considerations or circumstances beyond reasonable control make the planned activity unsuitable.

5. Products and the Hakä World Online Store

Hakä World may offer essential oils, blends, books, printed materials and other physical or digital products through this website.

Product descriptions and images are presented as accurately as reasonably possible. Slight variations in colour, appearance, packaging or other characteristics may occur, particularly in products produced or assembled in small batches, without affecting their essential characteristics or legal conformity.

All prices are displayed in the currency indicated on the website. Taxes, shipping costs and any additional charges applicable to an order will be presented before completion of the purchase whenever required by law.

An order is subject to product availability and successful payment. Customers will receive confirmation of the transaction through the contact information supplied during checkout.

If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, or if an evident technical or pricing error prevents the transaction from being fulfilled, Hakä World may cancel the affected order and refund any amount already paid.

6. Essential Oils

Hakä World essential oils and blends must be used according to the instructions and warnings supplied with each product.

Essential oils are concentrated aromatic substances and should be handled appropriately. Customers are responsible for reading product labels and safety information before use and for respecting any dilution, application or storage instructions provided with the product.

Products should be kept out of the reach of children and used with particular care around pregnancy, allergies, sensitive skin, medical conditions and animals whenever relevant.

Hakä World essential oils are not medicines and are not presented as replacements for medical treatment. Statements concerning traditional aromatherapy uses, sensory qualities, relaxation or wellbeing should not be interpreted as guarantees of medical effects.

7. Shipping and Delivery

Available shipping destinations, shipping charges and estimated delivery periods will be displayed during checkout whenever applicable.

Delivery periods are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise. Events beyond reasonable control, including postal delays, transport disruption, customs procedures and exceptional circumstances, may affect delivery times.

Customers are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address.

Where Hakä World arranges delivery to a consumer, responsibility for the goods remains with Hakä World until the goods are physically received by the consumer or by a third party designated by the consumer, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

For orders delivered outside the European Union, customs duties, import taxes or other local charges may apply. Unless expressly included during checkout, such charges are normally the responsibility of the recipient.

8. Returns and Right of Withdrawal

Consumers purchasing goods or services at a distance may have the right under applicable Portuguese and European consumer legislation to withdraw from the contract within the statutory period, generally fourteen days, without having to provide a reason.

For goods, the applicable withdrawal period normally begins when the consumer, or a third party designated by the consumer other than the carrier, receives the goods. For service contracts, it normally begins when the contract is concluded.

To exercise a statutory right of withdrawal, the customer should contact Hakä World at [EMAIL ADDRESS] with an unequivocal statement identifying the order and communicating the decision to withdraw.

Where the customer is legally responsible for the cost of returning goods, this will be communicated in accordance with applicable consumer law.

Products must be handled only to the extent reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. The customer may be responsible for diminished value resulting from handling beyond what would normally be permitted when examining a product.

Statutory exceptions to the right of withdrawal may apply in certain circumstances, including certain services related to leisure activities scheduled for a specific date, fully performed services where the legally required consent has been given, digital content whose supply has begun following the legally required consent, personalised goods and certain sealed goods that cannot appropriately be returned once unsealed for health or hygiene reasons.

Nothing in this section restricts any mandatory consumer right.

9. Product Conformity and Consumer Rights

Products sold by Hakä World are covered by the mandatory legal protections applicable under Portuguese and European consumer law.

For consumer goods supplied in Portugal, Hakä World is responsible for lack of conformity that becomes apparent within the statutory period applicable under Portuguese law, currently three years from delivery for new movable goods, subject to the rules, remedies and exceptions established by law.

Where a product is defective, does not correspond to its description or otherwise lacks conformity, consumers may have rights including repair, replacement, proportional reduction of the price or termination of the contract according to the circumstances and applicable legislation.

These statutory rights are independent from any voluntary commercial guarantee that may be offered.

10. Digital Content and Educational Materials

Courses, ebooks, recorded practices, guided exercises, manuals, videos, photographs, illustrations, written materials and other digital resources provided by Hakä World remain protected by intellectual property law.

Purchase or access grants the customer a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the material for the purpose for which it was supplied, unless different conditions are expressly stated.

Educational materials may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, publicly shared, uploaded to other platforms or used commercially without prior written permission from Hakä World.

Where professional training materials describe Hakä methods or techniques, purchasing or attending the training does not transfer ownership of Hakä World trademarks, publications, branding or other intellectual property.

11. Books and Third-Party Platforms

Certain Hakä World books, products or services may be purchased through third-party platforms such as Amazon or other external providers.

When a transaction is completed directly on a third-party website, the purchase, payment, delivery, returns and personal data processing associated with that transaction may also be governed by the terms and privacy policies of that platform.

Hakä World is not responsible for the independent operation, availability or privacy practices of third-party websites.

12. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the Hakä World name, Hakä name and identity, logos, visual elements, photographs, illustrations, written texts, educational materials, methodologies, course structures, videos, graphics and original website content are owned by Hakä World or used with appropriate permission.

No content from this website may be reproduced, commercially exploited, republished, distributed or presented as another person's work without prior authorisation, except where permitted by law.

References to Yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, meditation and other historical, philosophical or traditional systems do not imply ownership by Hakä World of those traditions or of knowledge belonging to the public domain.

13. Privacy Policy

Hakä World respects the privacy of visitors, clients, students, participants and customers and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, applicable Portuguese data protection legislation and other relevant legal obligations.

For the purposes of applicable data protection legislation, the data controller is:

14. Personal Data We May Collect

Depending on the way you interact with Hakä World, we may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery information, order history, booking information, workshop or event registrations, correspondence with us and marketing preferences.

When necessary to process an order, we may receive transaction or payment confirmation information from payment providers. Hakä World does not necessarily receive or store complete payment card details when payments are processed by an independent payment provider.

We may also collect technical information concerning use of the website, such as IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from technical data, pages visited, referral information and cookie identifiers, depending on your consent and the technologies enabled on the website.

For some individual bodywork sessions or physical activities, you may voluntarily provide information concerning injuries, physical limitations, allergies, sensitivities or other health-related circumstances relevant to safe participation. Because health information may constitute a special category of personal data under the GDPR, such information will only be collected when appropriate and processed on a valid legal basis, which may include your explicit consent.

We request that users provide only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service.

15. Why We Process Personal Data

Personal data may be processed for purposes including managing orders and deliveries; processing payments; organising bookings, workshops, courses and events; communicating with customers and participants; responding to requests and enquiries; issuing invoices and complying with accounting, tax and legal obligations; maintaining the security and integrity of the website; handling complaints and legal claims; improving our services; and, when authorised, sending newsletters or information about future Hakä World activities.

The legal basis for processing depends on the purpose involved. Processing may be necessary for performance of a contract or steps requested before entering into a contract, necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, based on Hakä World's legitimate interests where those interests do not override the individual's rights and freedoms, or based on consent when consent is the appropriate legal basis.

Where processing is based on consent, consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

16. Marketing Communications

Hakä World may send newsletters, information about workshops, new products, events or other promotional communications when there is an appropriate legal basis to do so.

Where consent is required, promotional communications will be sent only after appropriate consent has been obtained.

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the communication or by contacting Hakä World.

Withdrawal from marketing communications does not prevent us from sending messages necessary to fulfil an existing order, booking or contractual relationship.

17. Cookies and Similar Technologies

This website may use cookies and similar technologies to enable essential website functions, remember user preferences, understand how visitors interact with the website and, where enabled, support analytics or marketing activities.

Strictly necessary cookies may be used when required for the website, shopping cart, security, checkout, login or other functions requested by the user.

Analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies will be used only in accordance with applicable consent requirements.

When required, visitors will be given the opportunity to accept or reject non-essential cookies through the website's cookie consent system. Cookie preferences can subsequently be changed through the available cookie settings mechanism.

The precise cookies used may change as website functionality and third-party services evolve. The cookie management interface should provide current information regarding the categories and technologies active on the website.

18. Service Providers and Data Sharing

Hakä World does not sell personal data to advertisers.

Personal information may be shared with third parties only where reasonably necessary for the operation of the website and delivery of our services, including website hosting and ecommerce providers, payment processors, delivery companies, email and communication platforms, booking systems, accounting or professional advisers and other technical providers.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law, court order or a competent public authority, or when reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Where external practitioners, instructors or collaborators require limited information in order to deliver a Hakä World activity, only information reasonably necessary for that purpose should be shared.

19. International Data Transfers

Some service providers used to operate the website, payment systems, communications or digital infrastructure may process information outside Portugal or outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred to a country outside the European Economic Area, Hakä World will rely on an appropriate mechanism recognised under applicable data protection law, such as an adequacy decision, appropriate contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism where required.

20. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and in accordance with applicable legal obligations.

Different categories of information may therefore be retained for different periods. Transaction, accounting and invoicing information may need to be retained for statutory periods imposed by Portuguese law, while marketing information based on consent may be retained until consent is withdrawn or the information is no longer required.

When information is no longer required and no lawful reason for retaining it remains, it will be deleted, anonymised or otherwise securely disposed of.

21. Your Data Protection Rights

Subject to the conditions established by the GDPR and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion of personal data, restrict certain processing, object to certain processing, receive certain information in a portable format and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You also have the right to object at any time to the use of your personal data for direct marketing.

Requests concerning personal data may be sent to [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We may request reasonable information necessary to confirm identity before responding to a request.

Individuals also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority:

Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, CNPD
Av. D. Carlos I, 134, 1.º
1200-651 Lisboa
Portugal
www.cnpd.pt

22. Data Security

Hakä World takes reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, disclosure or misuse.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users should therefore also take reasonable precautions when communicating online and protect passwords and devices used to access digital services.

23. Children's Privacy

The website and online store are primarily intended for adults.

Where participation by a minor is appropriate for a particular Hakä World activity, registration or purchase should be made or authorised by a parent or legal guardian where required.

Hakä World does not intentionally seek to collect personal information from children through the general website except where this is necessary, appropriate and legally permitted for a specific activity.

24. External Links

The website may contain links to third-party websites, social media platforms, payment services, booking platforms, marketplaces or other external resources.

These websites operate independently from Hakä World and may apply their own terms, privacy policies and cookie practices. Users are encouraged to review those policies before providing personal information to third-party services.

25. Limitation of Liability

Hakä World will exercise reasonable care in providing the website, products and services.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hakä World is not responsible for indirect losses resulting from circumstances outside its reasonable control, misuse of products contrary to provided instructions, reliance on general educational content as a substitute for individual professional advice, or the independent acts or systems of third-party platforms.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, nor does anything in these Terms restrict mandatory consumer rights.

26. Complaints and Alternative Dispute Resolution

If you have a question or complaint concerning a purchase or service, we encourage you to contact Hakä World first at [EMAIL ADDRESS] so that we can attempt to resolve the matter directly.

Consumers may also have access to recognised Alternative Dispute Resolution entities in Portugal.

For consumer contracts within the geographical area covered by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, the relevant entity may include:

Centro de Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo de Lisboa, CACCL
Rua dos Douradores, 116, 2.º
1100-207 Lisboa
Portugal
www.centroarbitragemlisboa.pt

Consumers can obtain information about the competent Alternative Dispute Resolution entities through the Portuguese Directorate-General for Consumers, Direção-Geral do Consumidor.

Where applicable, consumers may also submit complaints through the Portuguese Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico.

27. Changes to These Terms & Privacy Provisions

Hakä World may update these Terms when necessary to reflect changes in our activities, website functionality, business practices or applicable law.

The latest version will be published on this page together with its revision date. Material changes affecting existing contractual relationships will be handled in accordance with applicable law.

28. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law.

If you are a consumer residing in another jurisdiction, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under applicable European or national legislation.

Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts or recognised alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in accordance with applicable law.
